Many of the ‘civilians’ killed while protesting at the Israeli border over the transferring of the country’s embassy to Jerusalem have turned out to be signed up members of Hamas, according to one of the Islamist group’s leaders.
Salah al-Bardawil told Palestinian Radio on Wednesday: “In the last round of confrontations 62 people were martyred, 50 of them were Hamas.”
Senior Hamas official sets the record straight on who was killed in last Hamas-orchestrated riots: “50 of the 62 martyrs were Hamas”. Take his word for it. This was no peaceful protest. pic.twitter.com/oop2y3oWrB

Israeli Lt Col Jonathan Conricus said: “Hamas wanted the casualties.
“Hamas wanted people to die. Hamas wanted the pictures of the wounded and the overflowing hospitals … and they had no problems sending the human shields forward.
“That is the sad reality of what we have been facing.”
The news prompted a tweet from Tory MP Nick Boles, who had previously condemned Israel for killing so many people as they massed near the country’s border.
Yesterday I criticised Israel’s handling of the protests at the Gaza border. I should not have been so quick to judge. We now learn that the 50 of those killed were Hamas terrorists. Israel had an absolute right to defend itself against such attacks. https://t.co/nkFO1XWUDh

If members of an extremist Islamist group are trying to breach your country’s borders, what do you expect a sovereign nation to do? Of course it has the right to defend itself.
