Tommy Robinson removed from Twitter without reason

British journalist and video maker Tommy Robinson has been removed from Twitter. It is unclear whether he can return to the platform or not.

Caolan Robertson, a contact of Robinson, said this morning on Twitter that Tommy’s account has been removed and that no reason was given.

Robinson, who is known for his interesting live interviews and polarising views on Islam, was also suspended from Twitter four weeks ago for communicating factual statistics regarding British-Pakistani, or Muslim majority, grooming gangs.

In a Facebook post, Robinson then predicted that his suspension would occur as part of a plan to completely remove him from social media.

It is not clear why Robinson’s account was removed; although he has a confrontational style, it does not appear that he crossed the line of expressing racist views or inciting violence against any particular group.

Earlier this month, Twitter and Facebook removed Britain First’s accounts from their platforms, along with the Twitter accounts of several American conservatives.

It is now clear that freedom of speech is disappearing on the West’s social media platforms. However, this is a rather one-sided process: while right-wingers and conservatives are being removed and suspended, hate speech being disseminated by other, often left-wing liberal, groups is ignored and allowed to continue, and that is shameful.
